Overview of ALP
What is unique about Greenridge ALP?
At Greenridge Secondary School, our students learn to use their voices with confidence, purpose and heart.

Our Applied Learning Programme in English Language and Mother Tongue Languages develops students into Persuasive Communicators who can speak up for good causes and connect with people across cultures.
The programme emphasises nurturing important 21st Century Competencies, including creative, adaptive and inventive thinking, communication, and collaboration skills, preparing our students to engage thoughtfully with real-world issues and contribute positively to the community.
The ALP empowers Greenridge students to become Confident Learners, Compassionate Leaders and Ethical Innovators. Through debating, public speaking, and new media communication, students develop the skills and dispositions needed to express their ideas clearly, collaborate with others, and make a positive impact in an increasingly connected world.

Finding A Voice Through Debate
In Secondary One and Two, all students take part in specialised debating workshops during curriculum time. They learn how to build strong arguments, support their views with evidence, respond to different perspectives and speak with conviction.

These skills are then put into action through a customised debate competition, where our students collaborate with their peers, sharpen their thinking and experience the power of purposeful communication.

Sharpening Voices, Growing Talents
Students who are passionate about speaking, storytelling and advocacy receive opportunities to sharpen their craft through advanced training, school representation and larger competition platforms. Whether they are delivering a powerful speech, debating with conviction, producing a podcast or creating a video story, our students learn to inform, inspire and influence others, further empowering their voices to champion causes that matter.
