DIRECT SCHOOL ADMISSION-SECONDARY EXERCISE 2019

The Direct School Admission-Secondary (DSE-Sec) Exercise allows students to seek admission to secondary school based on a diverse range of interests and talents. Parents and students are encouraged to choose schools wisely based on the students’ aptitudes and strengths, bearing in mind the school’s academic and non-academic requirements, and the programmes available to develop the area of talent.

Greenridge Secondary School (GSS) invites parents/guardians with a child/ward seeking admission to Secondary One in 2020 to apply to the school through DSA-Sec.

Why Your Child/Ward Should Apply to GSS

In GSS, we offer the following talent areas through DSA-Sec as a tie in with our Applied Learning Programme in EL & MTL and our Learning for Life Programme in the Arts:
      • Debate and Public Speaking
      • Language - Chinese 
      • Language - Malay 
      • Language - Tamil 
      • Orchestra - Chinese 
      • Visual Arts

Successful applicants will enjoy a range of developmental opportunities to nurture their interests and develop their skills in the talent area offered to them. Your child / ward can look forward to opportunities to:
      • participate in enrichment programmes / activities
      • showcase his / her skills and knowledge at school and community level
      • represent the school in national-level competitions
      • receive mentorship
      • initiate and lead in projects (including VIA projects) related to the talent area
      • receive guidance on potential higher education and career options in the talent area

Is Your Child/Ward Eligible to Apply for DSA-Sec to GSS?

All applicants eligible for Secondary One in 2020 may apply.

All International Students are required to take part in the Admission Exercise for International Students (AEIS) before they can be considered for DSA-Sec admission.

For the different talent areas, GSS is looking for students with the following qualities:

Demonstrate competency in the English Language, interest and motivation in public speaking, as well as positive personal dispositions and learning attitudes.

Demonstrate competency, interest and motivation in Chinese Language / Malay Language / Tamil Language, as well as positive personal dispositions and learning attitudes. 
Visual Art
Chinese Orchestra
Demonstrate artistic potential, interest and motivation in the art form, as well as positive personal dispositions and learning attitudes. 


How Will Your Child/Ward Be Selected?

GSS will conduct a shortlisting of applicants following the DSA-Sec application period (8 May to 4 June 2019). 

Shortlisted applicants will be invited to attend our interviews / selection tests between 1 July to 30 August 2019.

Application Procedure for DSA-Sec to GSS

1. All interested applicants must apply through MOE DSA-Sec Portal from 8 May 2019, 9 a.m. to 4 June 2019, 3 
    p.m. Application is free-of-charge. For more details, please refer to MOE website

2. Interested applicants can choose a maximum of two talent areas from GSS.

3. GSS will contact all shortlisted applicants from 1 July 2019 onwards. Shortlisted applicants will be invited to attend 
    our interviews / selection tests from 1 July to 30 August 2019.

4. GSS will inform shortlisted applicants of the outcome of their application by 30 August 2019. Each successful 
    applicant can only be offered one talent area in DSA-Sec to the school.

5. Successful applicants will be admitted to GSS if they:

      • indicate GSS during their School Preference Submission (21 to 25 October 2019)
      • qualify for an academic course offered by GSS – Express, N(A), N(T) – based on their PSLE results
