The Robotics Club in Greenridge Secondary School provides opportunities for our students to expand their creative, problem solving and critical thinking skills through the construction and programming of robots to tackle problems and achieve specified tasks in a fun and innovative way. Under the guidance of an instructor, our students learn the basics of building and programming miniature robots to work smarter and move faster using LEGO MINDSTORMS EV3.
With the knowledge and skills gained through the CCA training sessions, our students will compete in national level competitions such as the Singapore Technology Competition (STC) & National Robotics Competition (NRC) which provide them the platform to showcase and apply what they have learnt. Through these competitions, students acquire technological expertise and develop various life skills such as perseverance, diligence, collaboration and effective communication as they strategise to perform the desired task.
CCA COMPETITIONS & ACCOLADES

CCA MEMBERSHIPS & PRE-REQUISITES
Both boys and girls can be selected as club members.
Sports selection for new members are done based on:
1. Prior Experience in robotics or Lego building
2. Try outs done during CCA orientation to test students’ aptitude and teamwork for given projects
Students can join the robotics club even without prior experience as long as they want to be involved in a fun and exciting CCA and are willing to be good team workers as the projects and competitions are all done in groups.

CCA PROGRAMME FOR SKILLS, LEADERSHIP & CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT
Greenridge Secondary School works in partnership with Tribal Studioz to conduct a structured training programme for students to prepare them for major competitions. The training sessions involve robot building techniques as well as learning the software to program the robots.
Through these training sessions, students will develop problem-solving skills and have the opportunity to learn beyond the classroom. They will also gain an appreciation for technology and be able to apply their skills in real-life.
Students are also given opportunities to develop their leadership skills through committee positions or to step up as team leaders during external competitions. As projects and competitions are all done in groups, students are encouraged to collaborate and work effectively in teams.
The training and exposure given helps to prepare and equip our students with the essential skillsets that they will need to prepare for the unforeseen future. Robotics helps to fuel their curiosity, embraces them to take risks through trial and error and to be reflective as they analyse and evaluate the best strategy to tackle the task at hand.
