A performance ensemble consisting of members of woodwind, brass and percussion families of instruments, the Greenridge Symphonic Band constantly aspires for excellence in the rigorous biweekly practices and riveting performances. The Greenridge Symphonic Band aims to expose members to various musical styles and genres, be it contemporary or standard classic literature, through performances in various settings.
The Band is an integral part of the quintessential Greenridge culture with respect to the arts and Arts Education in the school. The Band performs for school-wide events like Spectrum, the biennial concert production put up by teachers and students, Awards’ Day, Parents’ Preview Performance (P3 Concert), and the National Day Parade celebrations in the school. The Band also plays the role of musical hosts and has invited some schools to participate in the annual Band Exchange.
Aside from participating in nation-wide and international competitions like the Singapore Youth Festival Arts Presentation and the Singapore International Band Festival respectively, the Greenridge Symphonic Band is given opportunities to perform publicly hence constantly honing their musicality and confidence. The Band does their part for the community by performing during the various National Day Observance Ceremonies that Bukit Panjang Town annually organises. To top it off, the Band receives invites from external organisations like Sentosa, Palawan Playground, to entertain the audience with their upbeat concert pieces.

CCA PROGRAMME FOR SKILLS, LEADERSHIP & CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT
Aside from seeking to develop deep appreciation of good music and music-making in students, the Band also fosters and harnesses leadership potential in students, providing them ample avenues and opportunities to step up and take on roles in guiding the ensemble as Band and Drum Majors, Sectional Leaders and other positions of leadership.
As part of a holistic Arts Education in the 21st century, students are taught the importance of competencies like civic mindedness and a collaborative spirit. In addition, Band members develop self-confidence and tenacity, equipping them to face the dynamism and complexities of the world today.
