Drama

The Greenridge Drama Club was set up in 2006 and has since grown tremendously. Our enthusiastic and talented members have participated actively in the Singapore Youth Festival, both in English and Chinese Drama, Cluster Arts Events, the National Library story telling event, as well as other external performances to broaden their exposure. As part of our exposure programme, we conduct learning journeys to local and internationally acclaimed performances, and conduct regular workshops and masterclasses. These have included topics as diverse as Indian Classical Kathakali Dance-Drama, Mime, Musical play, Chinese Opera, Zumba, Kick-boxing, Puppetry as well as stage and special effects make-up. Their exposure is not limited to Singapore, as we have also conducted overseas experiential learning programmes, where we went to Perth, Australia (2010), London (2010), United Kingdom (2012), Beijing, China (2014) where club members watched acclaimed performances. They also visited and participated in lessons at renowned schools to broaden their aesthetic, cultural and academic horizons.

CCA PROGRAMME FOR SKILLS, LEADERSHIP & CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT

We focus on developing individual performance skills as well as working effectively as a team to put up the best possible show for our audience.  Individual skills include creative expression, voice projection and confidence on stage. For group skills, we develop members who collaborate seamlessly and harmoniously to address all aspects of the performance, from script-writing, costume, make-up to lights, sound and crew work.  All of these elements are important to the performance and we seek to help our members develop and showcase their talents for all to see. There are opportunities to be a part of the Drama Club executive committee to develop leadership skills through organising events, workshops and attending courses such as Outward Bound.
