2023 DIRECT SCHOOL ADMISSION-SECONDARY EXERCISE (DSA-SEC)
Dear P6 students
We invite you to apply for Direct School Admission (DSA) to Sec 1 (2024). DSA allows students to seek admission to a secondary school based on a diverse range of interests and talents.
For our 2024 Sec 1s, we offer the following talent areas:
Successful applicants will enjoy a range of developmental opportunities to nurture their interests and develop their skills in the talent area offered to them. These students can look forward to opportunities to:
- participate in enrichment programmes / activities
- showcase their skills and knowledge at the school and community level
- represent the school in national-level competitions
- receive mentorship
- initiate and lead in projects (including VIA projects) related to the talent area
- receive guidance on potential higher education and career options in the talent area
Selection Process and Criteria

Debating and Public Speaking | Applicants should demonstrate: competency in the English Language interest, motivation and experience (if any) in public speaking positive personal dispositions and learning attitudes
| Shortlisted applicants: will be invited for an in-person interview to share their relevant achievements and experiences (if any) will sit for a performance task: plan and deliver a speech on a topic that will be given to the applicant during the session

Media / Journalism | Applicants should have: competency in the English Language interest, motivation and experience (if any) in communicating through different types of media positive personal dispositions and learning attitudes
| Shortlisted applicants: will be invited for an in-person interview to share their relevant achievements and experiences (if any) will sit for a performance task: craft a photo story with a title and photo captions, based on information and photographs provided during the session.

Bilingualism | Applicants should have: competency in Mother Tongue Language (MTL) & English Language (EL) interest, motivation and experience (if any) in bilingualism and biculturalism positive personal dispositions and learning attitudes
| Shortlisted applicants: will be invited for an in-person interview to share their relevant achievements and experiences (if any) will sit for a performance task: simple translation and word splash involving EL and MTL during the session.

Community Youth Leadership | Applicants should have: the will to serve the school and the community experience in leading others interest in deepening leadership skills

Rugby | Applicants should have: skills in ball passing, tackling, and evasive running during a game play motivation, experience and achievements (if any) in playing rugby positive personal dispositions and learning attitudes

Please note that meeting all the criteria does not guarantee the student will be shortlisted or given an offer.
Application Process
Application for DSA-Sec can be submitted through the online DSA-Sec Portal. The application is free-of-charge and will be open from 4 May 2023, 11am to 31 May 2023, 3pm. For more details, please refer to MOE website – www.moe.gov.sg/dsa-sec. An applicant may indicate up to 2 talent areas for the same school.
Parents and students are encouraged to choose schools wisely based on the student’s aptitudes and strengths, bearing in mind the schools’ academic and non-academic requirements, and the programmes available to develop the area of talent.
Students who are successfully admitted to the school via DSA are expected to honour their commitment to the school and participate in the activities related to the talent area that they are selected for from Year 1 to Year 4.

23 Oct to 27 Oct 2023 | Successful DSA-Sec applicants are to submit their preferred choice of school via the DSA-Sec Portal or via the applicants’ primary schools. |
Late Nov 2023 | Applicants will receive DSA-Sec allocation results during the release of the PSLE results. |
